Three Different Ford Vehicles Recalled For Separate Safety Concerns

Recently, the National Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced a triple Ford recall— three Ford vehicle models, each getting recalled for unique reasons . Between faulty vehicles and dangerous aftermarket kits and accessories, Ford owners should exercise caution until they’ve confirmed that their own vehicles are safe.

Block Heater Recall

The first Ford recall on the list concerns an automotive accessory: some of their engine block heaters are faulty.

Why is Ford recalling some block heaters?

The block heaters in question pose a fire risk. The NHTSA brief explains that these heaters “may overheat when the vehicle is parked with the block heater plugged in.” And since “an overheated engine block heater increases the risk of fire,” you should stop using yours until you know it’s safe.

Which block heaters are faulty?

Per Ford, the faulty block heaters have “part number JL3T-6A051-AB,” and “were sold as accessories for certain 2023-2026 Ford vehicles equipped with a 1.5L or 2.0L Modular Power Cylinder (MPC) engine.”

If you’re not sure whether or not your block heater is one of the faulty ones, keep an eye on your mailbox. Ford just mailed out the interim letters explaining the problem, and they’re anticipating sending out the letters that will explain the fix by February 2026.

Is there a fix?

Ford says that “dealers will replace the block heater element and inspect the electrical cord, replacing it if necessary, free of charge.” If you have further questions, you can reach Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 25SA6, and the NHTSA number for this recall is 25E066000.

Ranger Recall

The second in the series of the triple Ford recall involves Ford Rangers.

Why is Ford recalling Rangers?

Per the NHTSA, the faulty rangers “fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, ‘Occupant Crash Protection.'” This is because “the instrument panel top cover may prevent the passenger air bag from deploying as intended.”

Airbags are an important safety feature in cars. The NHTSA warns that “an airbag that does not deploy as intended increases the risk of injury in a crash.”

Which Ford Rangers are defective?

This recall only affects 2025 Ranger vehicles. To confirm whether your vehicle has this problem, you can search your VIN on the NHTSA site. Ford will send out a first round of letters in late October 2025 explaining the problem. They plan to send out another round of letters once the repair option is solidified.

How will Ford fix the problem?

Ford says that “dealers will replace the instrument panel assembly, free of charge.” If you have further questions, you can reach Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 25C54, and the NHTSA number for this recall is 25V678000.

Mustang Aftermarket Kit Recall

The third and final Ford recall pertains to an aftermarket accessory kit, specifically designed for certain Mustang models.

Why is Ford recalling these kits?

According to the brief, in the vehicles with this kit, “the powertrain control module (PCM) may experience a software error and disable functional safety features.” In this case, the safety features control, in part, acceleration. And “deactivated safety features can fail to prevent unintended acceleration or unintended vehicle movement.” Put simply, the aftermarket kit can cause the vehicles in question to speed up without warning, and “unintended acceleration increases the risk of a crash.”

What all is included in this recall?

This recall affects “Ford Mustang superchargers with part number M-6066-M8800, that were sold as aftermarket accessory kits for 2024-2025 Mustang vehicles.” If you think you’ve got one, check your mailbox. Ford is sending out initial letters about the problem in October 2025 and will send out another round of letters once the remedy is finalized, ideally also in October 2025.

How will Ford fix this problem?

“Dealers will update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software, free of charge,” per the NHTSA brief. If you have further questions, you can reach Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s number for this recall is 25SA7 and the NHTSA number for this recall is 25E068000.
