Honda Launches Bluetooth App for Generators

Honda Power Equipment is slowly becoming a major player in the world of generators. But their latest innovation is not another quiet, powerful generator. Instead, it’s yet another app for your smartphone.

“The Honda My Generator Bluetooth® App combines remote generator operation and monitoring with impressive performance, unmatched convenience, and a host of other benefits designed to deliver maximum remote freedom and control to the user,” said Will Walton, vice president of Honda Power Equipment.

Through the app, users can start, stop and monitor electric start generators all on their smart phone. Generators with pull-starts will still need to be manually started, but then may be remotely stopped and monitored just like their electric start counterparts.

Because the app uses a Bluetooth connection, its range is limited, so users need to be within 75 feet of the generator to connect. Once up and running, the app provides information on a generator’s output power, engine operating hours, oil life and estimated run times. Users can control multiple generators from the same device.

The app will work on Apple devices using iOS version 11.0 and newer, and on Android devices using software versions 9.0 and newer.

“Our Honda My Generator Bluetooth App puts valuable information in the palm of the hand of the consumer and provides an exceptional user experience,” said Walton.

The Honda My Generator Bluetooth App is available on four Honda generators:

The app will also work with two other Honda generators that are set to go on sale later this fall, the Super Quiet Series EU7000iS and the EU2200i Camo.
