We took a look at Harbor Freight’s “Good, Better, Best Drill/Drivers” and discovered they are actually all great tools!
The Warrior drill/driver in the “Good” category, priced for the DIYer (or anyone looking for an affordable high-quality tool), stood up to our Family Handyman standards. The well-designed Bauer drill/driver in the “Better” category performed well in all of our rigorous tests, and it’s priced to not break the bank. The Hercules drill/driver has enough muscle to earn its place in the “Best” category of the Harbor Freight line.
We ran all three tools through performance tests — drilling holes with spade bits and hole saws, and driving a full box of 3-in. deck screws into 2x4s. We timed how long the battery lasted and how long it took to fully charge. The Warrior, Bauer and Hercules all earned a thumbs-up from this FHM DIY carpenter.
