Take Candid Photos While Recording

If you’re similar to me and like to take videos of almost everything, it can be frustrating when you want to capture a still photo of something without having to hit pause on your video. Luckily for you, this can easily be done. All you have to do is tap the snapshot button that pops up to the left of the record button while in “video” mode. Note that the photos you take while recording won’t be nearly as sharp as those you take on the “photo” setting, but at least you won’t have to sacrifice your video to snap away.

Screenshot a Full Page

You can say goodbye to taking individual screenshots of a webpage or a long article you want to read on your morning commute or your next flight with this iPhone hack. Take a screenshot of the entire page by screenshotting as you normally would (holding the power and top volume buttons). Next, click “full page” as opposed to “screen.” Then, you can choose from many options when it comes to what you want to do with that screenshot. You can Airdrop, text, save as a file, or send in a text message. You can also select whether you’d like to save your screenshot as a single image or PDF (or let your iPhone pick the best one).

Convert Your Handwriting to Text Messages

If you would like to send a text containing physical text you may have written or seen elsewhere, open up the Messages app, tap the text box, click “AutoFill,” and then tap “Scan Text.” Now, hold the text you’d like to scan underneath your camera for it to process and add to the text box for you to send.

Set a Timer Without Unlocking Your Phone

Whether you’re making a new recipe or need to set a timer for a task, you can do so without unlocking your phone. While you can tap on the timer icon for a more precise timing experience, you can also hold it down and swipe your finger up or down to set a timer up to two hours using more common intervals.

Quickly Text Photos

If you want to text someone a photo, hold down the “+” icon next to the text box as opposed to tapping the “+” icon and selecting “photos.” While this isn’t one of the iPhone hacks you will find to save you a lot of time if you only do it once, you’ll notice its time-saving effects over time.

Update Auto-Lock

The last thing you want is for your phone to lock when you’re in the middle of a task or step away from your phone. When you first open your iPhone, its Auto-Lock feature is typically set to 30 seconds. After clicking on Display & Brightness within your Settings app, you can scroll down to Auto-Lock and select the amount of time that works best for you–you’re welcome.
