NAHB Announces COVID-19 Vaccine Awareness Week

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has announced it will host “COVID-19 Vaccine Awareness Week in Construction” from April 19-23. The initiative, based on a request from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),  is meant to educate construction industry professionals on the safety and effectiveness of coronavirus vaccines and encourage individuals to sign up for vaccinations in their area.

“The CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) asked NAHB for help in reaching out to residential construction professionals to help meet the CDC goal of getting every eligible American vaccinated to protect against COVID-19,” the NAHB announcement says. “NAHB supports the CDC’s efforts and encourages all home builders to participate in Vaccine Awareness Week.”

As part of Vaccine Awareness Week, the NAHB will share vaccine-related resources with its members. These include information on the health impacts of the vaccines, why vaccination is important, and a guide to finding vaccines locally. The NAHB encouraged members to discuss vaccination with co-workers and provided materials on how to approach discussing this controversial subject.

The NAHB has also worked with the Construction Industry Safety Coalition (CISC) to produce a free educational webinar for CISC members. The webinar, scheduled to air April 21, will provide viewers with up-to-date information on COVID-19 vaccinations and best practices for the construction industry.
