Before his son arrived, Brett Gardner transformed this bedroom from floor to ceiling. He didn’t want to crowd the small room with furniture, so he converted the closet into space-efficient, multipurpose, built-in cabinetry. Three big drawers take the place of a dresser, and there’s a slide out laundry hamper. Big doors conceal a changing table. When diapering days are over, Brett will install a closet rod for hanging clothes in that space. The coat hooks and shelves to the left are recessed into the wall between studs.
“I declared the room off-limits to my wife, worked like mad for two months and unveiled the finished project on Mother’s Day.” — Brett Gardner
