Bissell is one of the most well-known vacuum brands. Recently, Bissell announced a recall of one of its popular wet-dry vacuum models. Here’s what you need to know.
Which Bissell Vacuum Was Recalled?
It’s the Bissell Cordless Multi-Surface Wet Dry Vacuum, models 2551, 2551W, 25519, 25518 and 2551R.
Why Was It Recalled?
Bissell says in rare instances, the battery management circuit board can overheat, risking a fire. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission cited 66 instances of the vacuum smoking and giving off a burning smell, and five instances of the battery pack catching fire.
How to Check My Vacuum
If you own a Bissell Cordless Multi-Surface Wet Dry vacuum, check the model number. To do this, remove the water tank and locate the product information sticker. The model number will be in the center black bar of the sticker.
The recalled units were sold between January 2019 through November 2022 at Walmart locations, and online through Walmart, Bissell, Kohl’s, Ace Hardware, Costco, QVC, Amazon, Wayfair and Fingerhut. About 61,000 vacuums are involved in the recall.
What Should I Do If I Have A Recalled vacuum?
Stop using it right away and remove it from the charging base, even if seems to be working fine.
