How to Choose a Vessel Sink Faucet

What is a Vessel Sink Faucet?

Unlike a traditional undermount sink, a vessel sink sits right on top of the counter, adding a sophisticated look to any bathroom. Vessel sinks rely on specially designed faucets that are tall enough to drop water down into the bowl.

There are two main styles of faucets that work with vessel sinks: deck mounted and wall mounted. Deck mounted faucets are made with a tall, curved neck that can reach from the top of the counter all the way up and over into your vessel sink. Wall mounted faucets are fastened directly into the wall above the bowl and rely on in-wall plumbing, which can make them more of a chore to install.

Vessel sink faucets come in various shapes and sizes, and not all fit in every sink. Here are some things to consider when buying a vessel sink faucet, along with a look at some of our favorite models.

What Size Should a Vessel Sink Faucet Be?

The size depends on the height of your vessel sink. Make sure the spout is at least six inches above the bottom of the sink so that there’s plenty of space for handwashing. Other than that, the size and shape of your vessel sink faucet is entirely up to you.

If you’re adding a vessel sink to an existing bathroom, try to find a look that fits the overall design. But if you’re doing a full bathroom remodel, choose the faucet that best fits your vision.

How Much Will a Vessel Sink Faucet Cost?

Typically, a vessel sink faucet will cost from $80 to $300. Prices can go even higher if you add features like built-in technology that turns the faucet on and off with just a touch. Comparable wall mounted and deck mounted faucets will usually be about the same price, so choosing between those two styles should be a matter of function and style.
