  3. Wash the exterior of your car including the tires as you would with a normal car wash.

  • Open up windows.
  • Run a house fans if you have them.

  1. 1 quart of 3-percent hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and 1 teaspoon liquid dish soap mixed just before use—not in advance.
  2. Wear rubber gloves when applying and keep the solution away from your pet’s eyes and out of their mouth.
  3. Rinse immediately, then follow up with a pet shampoo. An alternative is to use a pet shampoo labeled for neutralizing skunk smells, such as this one.

Here’s how to get rid of skunk smell on clothing:

  1. Soak clothing in a solution of one part vinegar and four parts water for several hours to get rid of skunk smell on washable clothing.
